Early in his career, London published a number of remarkable collections of Klondike tales, among them The Son of the Wolf, The God of His Fathers, Children of the Frost, and The Faith of Men. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is a sense that this was rushed to publication; there are numerous editing mistakes in the hardcover version. Don't get me wrong, I understand that this is a romance novel but I have read GREAT smut books that were written with more realism and believability. The man has lived a blameless life and local authorities cannot understand why he would either be murdered or commit suicide. Her broken heart is finally on the mend from her past encounter with Justin. It is a further abstraction, when the divine and substantive reality is separated from its physical embodiment.
